On 13 January 2023, the Provincial Court of Barcelona has increased the child support payments a father, aged 45, had been making for his two young children as he has now fully returned to the workforce after the pandemic.
In January 2020, the father agreed to pay €500 per month for the two children, but after being laid off due to COVID-19, he reduced it to €165. The court lower reduced the payment to €330 per month, but the mother of the children appealed the decision. The court agreed with the mother’s appeal as the father has returned to full-time work, and it is now appropriate to increase the child support payments.
