Vaccine

In July 2022, the Economic Affairs Court in Riga sentenced a healthcare employee to a suspended prison term of a year and a half (and a year under probation), and another person to 150 hours of community work for fake COVID-19 vaccination.

Both individuals were found to have accepted brides for facilitating fake vaccination documentation, including accessing a vaccination database to enter fake information. Evidence showed that the healthcare employee had offered to issue fake vaccination certificates in exchange for a bribe paid in two installments and totaling €1,000.

In addition to its suspended prison sentence, the healthcare employee was banned from working as a medical receptionist for two years.
