In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Biden Administration put out four mandates requiring vaccination in various contexts. On 21 January 2022 the District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued a preliminary injunction enjoining one of such mandates, i.e., the one imposed on all federal workers.
By judgment of 7 April 2022, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed such decision deeming that the District Court did not have jurisdiction over the matter. As a result, the injunction has been lifted. This decision was of a mere procedural nature and will thus have no impact on the appeal currently pending before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal against the decision which has enjoined another of such mandates, i.e., the Federal Contractor Vaccine Mandate. So far, only the healthcare worker mandate has survived judicial scrutiny.
