On 10 March 2022, the High Court of Taipei confirmed the first instance sentence to one year in prison, with a suspended sentence for three years and a fine, for the manager of the company who had increased the price of alcohol by almost 10 times during the pandemic, falsely claiming that this increase was determined by the price of the raw material, which however remained unchanged.

In particular, since alcohol was regulated by the Ministry of Health Services, the defendant deliberately raised the price from 298 yuan to 2600 yuan. The Court sentenced the businessman in accordance with the "Special Regulations on the Prevention and Relief of Serious Special Infectious Pneumonia", ordering him to return 334,696 yuan as proceeds from illegal activity.
