On 31 March 2022, the Supreme Court accepted the appeal of three candidates to obtain a new exam test and the modification of the age limits for participation in the exam for access to public services of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

After passing the preliminary test, the applicants had not been able to conclude the competition with the final examination of the civil services (CSE) due to a COVID-19 infection. The UPSC Center had declared that it could not provide a new exam test, since the rules imposed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) provide for only one annual test; as well as not being able to change the age limits for participation.

However, the Supreme Court instead readmitted the candidates, requesting the reopening of the competition.
