The Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr has rejected a request to stay the current federal mandate that requires people to wear face masks at all airports and on planes.
The plaintiff filed a lawsuit in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia for himself and his son, who suffers from autism, arguing that the requirement is unlawful where it does not allow for exemptions for special cases, such as his son's. The boy cannot tolerate wearing a mask over his face because of his generalised anxiety disorder caused by his condition. Justice Roberts has rejected the request without referring the question to the full court.
